Cars, watches, art, wine, jewelry, trading cards, instruments — every asset outside of financial accounts and real estate is managed here. Atlas tracks their value over time and rolls them into your net worth.

What the page shows
Three top cards:
- Total value — the sum of every asset (converted to your primary currency).
- Total gain/loss — the sum of
(current value − purchase price) × quantityacross all assets, with the percentage move. - Number of categories — how many different types you're tracking.
Assets are then grouped by category, each group showing its total and item count.
Add an asset
Via Alternative Assets → + New Asset. The form has 2 or 3 steps depending on the type.
-
Pick a type from 8 categories: Vehicle, Watch, Collectibles, Art, Jewelry, Wine & Spirits, Musical instrument, Other.
-
General info
- Name (required).
- Current value (required).
- Purchase price (optional) — drives the gain/loss calculation.
- Purchase date (optional).
- URL (optional) — link to a listing, product page, or reference.
- Quantity (defaults to 1) — handy if you track identical lots (3 of the same artwork, 10 bottles of one vintage…).
-
Type-specific fields (when relevant)
- Vehicle: make, model, year, mileage.
- Watch: brand, model, year.
- Art: artist, year.
- Wine & Spirits: producer, vintage.
- Collectibles: extra step with item type from 12 options (trading card, sealed booster box, ETB, box set, figurine, statue, limited edition…), set name and language (FR / EN / JP / Other).
Updating value
Two ways:
- Quick update from the list: click the amount → inline edit → save. The new value is dated to the current month and added to history.
- Full edit from the detail page: opens every field, including purchase price and quantity.
Atlas stores a monthly history (YYYY-MM) for each value, which feeds the trend chart on the detail page.
Gain / loss
The Total Gain/Loss card shows a green (gain) or red (loss) badge. Each asset row also shows its individual gain/loss.
What about crypto?
Crypto is not an alternative-asset category. To track BTC/ETH/etc. positions, create a Crypto account in My bank and investment accounts. It's cleaner, and the bulk balance update catches them in the same flow.
Delete an asset
From the detail page, Delete. Deletion is immediate and permanent — the history goes with it.
